Summary
Growing up in a poor, rural Kentucky home, young Taylor Greer dreams of a better life. She heads west with high hopes and a beat-up car. By the time Taylor arrives in Tucson, Arizona, she has acquired a completely unexpected child, an abandoned three-year-old Cherokee girl named Turtle. Settling in Arizona, Taylor raises Turtle as her own and eventually aids a couple of Guatemalan immigrants
